Two bombs, including one at a popular market, exploded in Baghdad on Thursday, killing at least 18 people and wounding another 75, police said. One bomb exploded at a market in eastern Baghdad about 10 minutes after a car bomb detonated about a mile and a half away, police Lt. Bilal Ali Majeed said. Earlier in the day, a suicide car bomb targeting a line of cars waiting at a Baghdad gas station killed two people and wounded 13 Thursday, while a bomb near a restaurant wounded eight people, police said. Also, state-run television quoted the prime minister as saying that Iraqi forces will take over security in a southern province from coalition troops next month. The U.S. military reported that an American soldier was killed in a bomb blast north of the capital while conducting a security mission Wednesday.
