Shiite militants and police enraged by deadly truck bombings went on a shooting rampage against Sunnis in a northwestern Iraqi city Wednesday, killing as many as 70 men execution-style in the latest eruption of sectarian violence outside the capital. The gunmen began roaming Sunni neighborhoods in the city, shooting at residents and homes, according to police and a local Sunni politician. Ali al-Talafari, a Sunni member of the local Turkomen Front Party, said the Iraqi army had arrested 18 policemen accused of being involved after they were identified by the Sunni families targeted. But he said the attackers included Shiite militiamen. He said more than 60 Sunnis had been killed, but a senior hospital official in Tal Afar put the death toll at 45, with four wounded. ... http://www.cbsnews.com censor News |

The Constitutionalist |
Americans actually have an interesting 2008 presidential candidate – Ron Paul. As Thomas Woods pointed out in "The Revolutionary Candidate". "He is a bigger supporter of the free market than anyone in Congress, but he’s also the most consistent opponent of war." He would indeed be a revolutionary change in Washington, because he represents the ideals Americans fought a revolution for over two centuries ago. In a long public life, Dr. Paul has always kept faith with the limited defensible role for our federal government. He hasn’t sold out that vision to "buy" goodies extorted from others via government coercion, truly representing those disenchanted with the ballooning size and scope of government. As a result, he has been criticized, including by those in his own party, for failing to "go along to get along" or look the other way at poorly thought out proposals and policies, both foreign and domestic. Yet what better qualification is there for an office charged with benefiting all of us, rather than some of us at others’ ... http://www.lewrockwell.com/orig5/galles6.html

Man's Home Bulldozed After Neighbors Complain. |
Tommy Kasun said he just wants to be left alone. But his Walworth County neighbors complained his house was a nuisance, & they won. Their complaints led to the home's demolition by bulldozer. "I cried over 200,000 times," he said tearfully. Town officials used to describe Kasun as a homeless man with a house. Now he has no home - he's living in a broken van. Kasun, 79, breaks down crying when he thinks about what happened to his home. "Now I told them, 'Leave me alone so I can rebuild again,'" Kasun protested. "But they don't, they say 'You can't go on.'" Kasun is a tough, old war veteran who is now sleeping on a mattress in the old blue van. Our Public Serpents are hired to help us, ok, they sure helped this old Vet. If these Assholes can’t help, they sure in hell shouldn’t be adding to peoples miseries. Just what did they accomplish knocking down his house? Is this old guy better off living in a Van? Someone should knock down their houses and make them see how it feels ... http://www.todaystmj4.com/news/local/6739942.html

Riots Enter French Politics Rioting in Paris Becomes Presidential Campaign Issue |
It began with a routine ticket check at a Paris train station. What happened next rioting, looting, tear gas showed the anger that erupted into violence in France's troubled neighborhoods in 2005 still smolders beneath the surface. The rampage by youths, many apparently of African or North African descent, at a major rail hub Tuesday became an instant campaign issue in the French presidential race. It was a jarring reminder of the social tensions France's new leader will contend with when he or she takes power in May. Front-runner Nicolas Sarkozy of the governing right called the violence at the Gare du Nord unacceptable. His main rival, Socialist Segolene Royal, blamed Sarkozy's camp, saying the right's policing policies were an utter failure. Anger erupted after a 32-year-old man without a Metro ticket punched two inspectors during a routine check, police said. The man, an illegal alien from Congo who has challenged France's efforts to expel him, had been convicted in 2004 for ... http://abcnews.go.com/International/wireStory?id=2988445

San Francisco to ban plastic grocery bags |
San Francisco's Board of Supervisors voted Tuesday to become the first U.S. city to ban plastic bags from large supermarkets to help promote recycling. Under the legislation, beginning in six months large supermarkets and drugstores will not be allowed to offer plastic bags made from petroleum products. "Many [foreign] cities and nations have already implemented very similar legislation," said Ross Mirkarimi, the city legislator who championed the new law. "It's astounding that San Francisco would be the first U.S. city to follow suit." "I am hopeful that other U.S. cities will also adopt similar legislation," he said. "Why wait for the federal government to enact legislation that gets to the core of this problem when local governments can just step up to the plate?"... http://www.cnn.com/2007/US/03/27/environment.baggs.reut/index.html?eref=rss_us

Shiite police kill up to 60 in revenge spree |
Shiite militants and police enraged by massive truck bombings in the northwestern town of Tal Afar went on a revenge spree against Sunni residents there on Wednesday, killing as many as 60 people, officials said. The gunmen began roaming Sunni neighborhoods in the city late Tuesday and continued through 8 a.m. Wednesday, shooting at residents and homes, according to police and a Sunni official. Witnesses said relatives of the Shiite victims in the truck bombings broke into the Sunni homes and either killed the men or dragged them outside and shot them in the streets. Ali al-Talafari, a Sunni member of the local Turkomen Front Party, said the Iraqi army had arrested 18 policemen accused of being involved after they were identified by the Sunni families targeted.
