A Chechen warlord who is wanted for some of Russia's worst terrorist attacks has set a $25,000 bounty for the killing of a government leader in the troubled North Caucasus region, according to a posting Thursday on a Web site sympathetic to rebels. Israeli Supreme Court orders part of West Bank barrier relocated |
The Israeli Supreme Court ruled Thursday that Israel must move part of its barrier meant to keep Palestinian attackers out because it causes hardships to nearby West Bank residents. In the latest of a series of orders to relocate sections of the barrier, the court criticized the government for failing to present a "complete picture" and ruling that factors other than security had determined the route of the barrier. Israel says it needs the barrier to keep Palestinian suicide bombers and other attackers out. But Palestinians complain it juts into the West Bank in several places, cutting villagers off from lands and services, and amounts to a land grab. The location of the barrier became more significant when Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert said it would be the basis of his plan to pull out of most of the West Bank and set Israel's border, with or without Palestinian agreement. ... http://www.usatoday.com/news/world/2006-06-15-west-bank-barrier_x.htm?csp=34

Senate Panel Advances U.S. Flag-Burning Ban Proposal |
The U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee approved a constitutional amendment that would empower Congress to outlaw flag burning, setting the stage for an election-year debate about ``desecration'' of the national symbol. The measure, passed by a vote of 11-7, has already been approved by a two-thirds majority in the House of Representatives. To become part of the Constitution, the amendment must be passed by the same margin in the Senate and ratified by 38 state legislatures. The measure would overturn a 1989 Supreme Court ruling. The justices, voting 5-4, struck down a Texas law barring flag burning, ruling it restricted freedom of expression guaranteed by the Constitution. We need an amendment that automatically Jails any Politician, Bureaucrat or anyone that betrays their oath to office, that way they couldn’t be doing things that make our flag the target of so much anger. The problem would be solved. But don’t hold your breath waiting for something like that to happen... http://quote.bloomberg.com/apps/news?pid=10000087&sid=a2AiIAUKmzyQ&refer=home
