Microsoft and the European Union have begun a two-day hearing that gives the US giant its last chance to defend itself against possible daily fines. The software group faces daily fines of up to 2m euros ($3.4m; £1.4m) if it is found to have dragged its feet over a 2004 EU anti-competition ruling. Microsoft insists it has sufficiently met the EU's demand that it shares its software codes with its rivals. The EU instead currently accuses the firm of delaying tactics.
