A senior defendant was dragged out by guards, hurling insults - and the man the world is watching walked out after a screaming match with the judge. Much of the world - or at least, much of the world's media - appears to have decided that the trial of Saddam Hussein and his seven co-defendants is something between a travesty and a farce. But though the world may be watching the spectacle slack-jawed with astonishment, this trial is not really for them. It is for the people of Iraq, who were ruled for so long by Saddam Hussein.
