Thousands marched through London to demand a halt to the Lebanon war on Saturday as the British government tried to deflect criticism that it has failed to call for an immediate ceasefire. Prime Minister Tony Blair's government has come under fire at home for following U.S. President George W. Bush's lead on the conflict between Israel and Lebanese Hizbollah guerrillas and refusing to call for an immediate halt to hostilities. Thousands of demonstrators marched through central London holding placards reading "End Israeli crimes in Lebanon" and "Freedom for Palestine." Police said around 15,000 people were marching but organizers put the number at more than 100,000. ... http://abcnews.go.com censor News |

Searching for a mobile interface |
Nearly a quarter of phones returned for being faulty are working properly, a recent survey suggested. The problem is people just cannot figure out how to use them. As manufacturers struggle to pack in more features, mobile phone users struggle to get them to work. "There's a common idea in psychology that users can only cope with a certain number of choices at once," explains Geoff Kendall of Next Device, "And that number is roughly seven, plus or minus two. With increasing depths of lists and menus making the user experience more complex, designers are looking for ways to help users to understand what is happening on the screen. A popular solution is animation. ... http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/programmes/click_online/5244584.stm

At least 20 people have been killed and thousands have fled the worst violence between the two sides in four years. But the reason for the dispute is not yet resolved, a BBC correspondent says.
